I told him there are THREE things I wasn’t gonna do…
1. I wasn’t going to be CLEANING the turkey’s carcass
2. I’m not STUFFING the turkey’s carcass with stuffing then eating it… That’s just gross…
3. I’m not making any gravy cause I’m definitely not SAUTEING a freaking turkey carcass’s neck on top of the stove cause that’s gross too..
So after I broke it down for him, he told me that my wanna-be vegetarian ass should have told him to buy a tofu-turkey instead of telling him all the things that I wasn’t going to do. Then I said, ‘ok, Tofu it is!’ Then he threw me the EVIL *side eye* and said, ‘You better cook that damn turkey.’ Sooooo I started getting the ingredients for my turkey’s marinade together…
and we marinated Tim (I named the Turkey) the night before and then the next morning I went to work on everything else. I rubbed Tim down again with my marinade and stuck his ass in the oven. I made some baked macaroni & cheese, candied yams, collard greens, stuffing and we added some brown & serve rolls to the mix and that was our dinner! Tim turned out to be REALLY tasty thanks to my seasoning… and everything was good except the greens… I got a little heavy handed with the salt but they photographed well! (As I blog this, I’m on the phone with Smitty and he’s like, ‘You being honest about them greens! YES! They were too salty!)
We didn’t really have any dessert because Smitty said he was baking a cake *side eye* and for some reason I knew that wasn’t going to happen so I went to Make My Cake for some red velvet cupcakes. Overall it was a lovely Thanksgiving and turned out perfect… salty greens and all!
